Top 30 Best Acoustic Guitar Songs of the 70’s

By Klaus Crow 4 Comments

Top-30-Best-Acoustic-Guitar-Songs-of-the-70’s The seventies was a time when the acoustic guitar was really shining in popular music. Although electric guitar music really made its way into the charts, there was still more than enough room for acoustic songs by great artists.

Today we’ve got a list of 30 great acoustic 70s songs. Always note that these lists are in no particular order and they’re obviously incomplete. I create these lists to inspire, explore and motivate.

My personal favorites from this list are “Working class hero” by John Lennon, “Fire and rain” by James Taylor and “Needle and the damage done” by Neil Young. I’d love to know your personal favorite and if you have a suggestion for a great 70’s acoustic guitar song that is not on this list please share it in the comments.

All the guitar music of the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, 90’s and later have their own specialty and magic to it, but the 70’s was era on it’s own with so much beautiful music and new styles being born and flourishing it deserves a list you can indulge in as a guitar music lover.

Each song title contains a YouTube link to the original song. The “Chords” link will take you to the chords and the “Official Chords/TAB” link will show the official transcriptions.

50 of The Best Alternative Guitar Songs of the 90s

The 90’s. Oh dear, they were really good times for young guitar players like myself who adored rock music.

There were so many alternative rock bands back then you got lost in the woods, but that didn’t bother most of us.

Not that everything was great, but at least it was guitar music playing on the radio, just like in the 60’s and 70’s authentic bands playing real guitar songs.

Nowadays I even like some of the songs that I didn’t really dig back then. It has all become nostalgia.

They make me think of the good times or maybe I just listen to those songs differently now. Has my alternative taste expanded? It doesn’t matter. The bands and their songs that were so awesome then have just become more awesome after all these years. Those cranked up guitars just got better.

Favorites? Of course: REM, Radiohead, Alanis Morissette, Oasis, Beastie Boys and the Red Hot Chili Peppers, but it was great putting the entire list together.

Yes, there were many more songs that i wanted to add, but fifty seemed like a nice round number. So here you are. Continue Reading

Top 50 of all Time

50 best acoustic guitar songs

There’s this one thing that is so great about the guitar. I love the fact that you can choose to be in two complete different worlds.

One moment you plug in your electric guitar and make it rock, scream and tear up the place. The other time you indulge yourself in beautiful acoustic guitar songs and get swept away by good melody and harmony. It’s the best of both worlds. Obviously today were gonna look at some of the best songs of all time on acoustic.

50 greatest guitar riffs of all times

There’s something about playing guitar riffs. Creating that cool sound with your own bare fingers while sliding down and bending up those strings feels just like pure magic. Ain’t nothing like it.

Also the excitement of learning and eventually mastering a challenging riff is unbelievably fulfilling.

Let alone playing that riff with a real band will give you a true adrenaline rush. Yes that’s why we love to play riffs.

A little while ago I created a list with “50 of The Greatest Guitar Solos of All Time”. After that I got a lot of requests for a “Greatest Riffs of all Time” list. And I thought ‘yeah why not?’ So here you are.

As most of you know the lists on Guitarhabits are in no particular order and they are never complete. The lists are here to inspire and to motivate.

You might discover a riff or song on the list that you haven’t thought of before and would really like to learn. Maybe you’ll get some new ideas for practice or encounter a “mustknowriff” for your repertoire. It’s all here.

I was thinking about my personal favorite and it’s just too hard to choose only one. There are too many brilliant creations and all unique in their own way. I love the simplicity of “highway to hell”, the beautiful, mysterious, wah wah riff of “Voodoo child”, I have a weak spot for almost every guitar riff by John Frusciante or Slash and not to mention the zillion riffs that aren’t even on the list. Thank god it never stops.
