By Klaus Crow 2 Comments

June 11, 2022 by Klaus Crow

Blues licks across the neck gives you the freedom to play in wider area on the fretboard and gives you the feeling you are really soloing. It’s also one great lick that can be divided into smaller blues licks that can lead to new fresh ideas for your improvisation.

Video Lesson

Blues Lick Across the Neck – Key of E

This lick is in the key of E and is without bend ups. It uses up and down slides and a single pull off and the end. It’s a lick that can be played by both beginners and intermediate guitar players. Beginners can learn to play it at a slower pace and use it to develop their dexterity and build their chops, where intermediate students can get it more up to speed.

It’s a really nice straight forward blues lick to have some fun and add to your blues lick vocabulary.

Below are the tabs, and above the video lesson.

Enjoy!

    Klaus,

First and foremost I would like to thank you for your deeply devoted dedication.. in spreading your love and knowledge of blues guitar playing to others..

In 38 years of playing (I started lessons at age 9).. I’ve seen a lot of folks who have who labored their time to inspire and teach others..
Although sadly.. in the last 15-20 years the landscape has changed and the digital age of hype and clickbait that has taken over most of our community with “loaded” content (so much so that it’s hard to find the later).
Nevertheless I am not able to “Feel” the presence of meaningful expression and selfless tendering from the days of yesteryears with none other then a small handful of musicians.
    Klaus,
You are by far.. one of those very special musicians who I can not only hear but “feel” and guitar players, who know the blues know that it’s all about feeling.
You have a clear understanding that the gift of giving far exceeds that of receiving.
..and I’d just like I to tip my hat to you Klaus and Thank you for inspiring our community of guitar players with some of the most important and useful techniques one can have on their tool belt.

I honestly cannot express how nice it is to see you break down and make these wonderful techniques and ideologies of blues playing being passed on..

    Warm Regards,
    CJ Blues

Hi Christopher, thanks for the compliments. I try to contribute to the guitar world in my own humble way.

It’s still amazing to me that we can communicate this way via a computer or phone all across the globe and share the knowledge of guitar, music or life lessons with each other. How beautiful is that. I hope we all use it for the good of all.

    Thanks for your kind words.
    Best,
    Klaus Crow
